Hi Having trawled through the forum, I can't get my Eurovox back to life and wonder if I'm now wasting my time. The box is a Eurovox Max 2006 in a blue box with intel chipset, and as far as I can tell is a genuine unit (not a clone). It would not "power up" ie no lights or display, I have checked the PSU and the correct voltages exist, (replaced the capacitor just incase). I have managed to construct an unbuffered jtag setup and using jkeys have loaded the "unlock" bin file and erased the unit. I have also then loaded various firmware bin files without error. The unit now, when powered up, after approx 20 seconds the outside edges of the LED displays circles round once, then nothing (Like a snake around the edge). Using a UFL through the serial port does not work(no box detected). My questions are...Am I unable to use the serial port because the unit does not powerup into a normal "standby mode", and as I have tried what I think is all the "firmware" available and can't get past the "snake display", is the box past recovery? Sorry about the length, any help would be appreciated.
Hi Thanks for the reply, not quite sure what some of the files are, but presume you are pointing me the way of the usb driver files to get the serial port working and hence the UFL? I'll give it a try and let you know if it works.
Ok there is a way to fix with the current software by forcing the software into it. When your ready with the software loader on your screen (pc monitor)and your rs232 is connected to your box reboot your box by taking the plug out for ten seconds then the second you put it back in try to force the software into the box by clicking start. I've done this with many boxes and most have come back to life. Best of luck.
Hi Sc0user After erasing the unit, I load "EV_MAX_BLUE_190207.bin" and write this to the box. Then exit jkeys and cycle the power. after re-applying power I get the edge of the LED's illuminate once round the edge then nothing, its very repeatable. I have tried other files after trawling through the forums but they don't produce anything visible on the LED's. Not sure what to load next as I think I should get more of a response from the box if all was well (i.e standby leds or message on display led)
Hi sc0user I can't seem to find a more uptodate firmware, everyting else seems to be embedded into a UFL which I can't get to work through the serial port. I'm not sure if the problem is that because the firmware is'nt correct the serial port on the box somehow is not enabled or it's bcause I have the wrong type of USB driver? is there a more uptodate firmware .bin file?
Latest firmware for a genuine blue box is dated the 21/04/08, but is in a UFL format. One question what TSOP file did you use? Are you sure it was a blue one?
Hi Sc0user now showing my lack of knowledge, I gather from your reply that there is a difference between a TSOP and firmware file? I'm not sure now if I have loaded the right files, The first file was called "unlock_28FxxxC3.bin" the chip was then erased, the next file was called "EV_MAX_BLUE_190207.bin" this was loaded and written to the box using jkeys. So far thats all I have managed to do. Where does the TSOP file figure? what would it be called, does it also have a .bin extension and would it be loaded using JKeys. Will this release the serial port and allow the UFL to operate? Sorry for the questions, Thanks for your help so far.
Thats the correct TSOP all I can say is it may be corrupt, try this one here http://www.4shared.com/get/27595779/8fa98090/2006tsop.html and you are 100% sure its a genuine blue box?
Hi Sc0user Have tried the TSOP file, same procedure, erased then programmed using EV_MAX_BLUE_190207.bin. Proceeds smoothly but same results i.e when powered back on "snake" around edge of LEDs once then nothing. Should I now be able to use the serial port or is the box still in a faulty condition? Thanks for your help so far
Hi Alas no progress on getting my Eurovox back to life, I have trawled through the forums and spent endless hours gathering files etc. Many thanks to those who have offered advise, and I'm sure if I spent a bit more time I could crack it, but life is short and the cost of a new box now does'nt seem that expensive. Again many thanks for your help. Regards Frgthy21
