Hello there. Does anyone know how to erase faulty flash definition from this box so i can try jkeys again? I used jkeys to try to repair a box that someone had put the wrong software on and it was stuck in standby. After having to alter port settings to make it work, everything seemed to go ok. Went through the jtag procedure using jkeys and all appeared well until i unplugged it. Now there are no lights on the box at all. Have checked the capacitors, power supply and voltages across the box and everything checks out. When i run jkeys again it detects it but comes back with (unknown flash definitions). Just a load of f's and the erase button is not active so can't get any further.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi.Thanks for the reply. If i try to use skymax, as soon as i open the program i get the message (the parallel port could not be opened). Thats why i used jkeys as skymax would seem to be an easier program to use.

Set SkyMax to win98 compatibilty in preferences and have a look at para port and see if it is set to EPP with an IRQ of 378. Did you use the red TSOP unlock bin file? And are you sure it was a red Eurovox?

If you get error "can't open parallel port" using SkyMax in windows xp (especially SP2 ), press Ctrl+Alt+Del and bring up task manager. In the Process tab look for Skymax and end process, this will close Skymax. Now right click on skymax.exe - properties - compatibility and check the box Run this program in compatibilty mode for - choose Win98/Me. Click OK then open skymax, this will get rid of problem.

That error code usually indicates it is not connecting. Where did you get the jtag kit or did you make it yourself?

You can make one yourself or check the one you have for faults. Saying that can you put up the link to the one you got as it may not be the correct type for a Starview. Tomorrow will do as its quiet late.

Hi scOuser. Did as you said & got skymax working but getting same error. (idcode ffffffff)
(fail dcu. please restart or reset cpu box)
The jtag is from jtags4all. Correct one for eurovox which plugs onto pins. Have tried 2 of them & same result.
Heard somewhere about grounding pin 1 to reset cpu. Tried it last night with no success.
Port setting on epp & 378.

Do you mean you have tried two seperate Jtag kits or the same one on two EVs? Are you sure you have the Jtag polarity correct, i.e. pin1 on pin1 etc.

Hi scOuser. 2 separate solder free plug in jtags. Bought from different sources. Red stripe to pin 1 on board as per instructions.
Tried both on same eurovox. plugged directly into parallel port.
Have just checked again against photographs of the different boxes and it comes up as a eurovox max red box. Used the tsop for the red box when i jtagged it the first time. Perhaps the tsop was corrupt but if so i can't seem to be able to access it to erase & start again. As i said the voltages onto the mainboard are all correct but since i jtagged it there are no lights on the display panel.
    Getting pretty stumped.
