Have looked through forums and hope Ive posted correctly. For about 2hrs have searched but unable to get anything like my firmware problem. Id previously flashed it with April software and since then it worked ok. Attempted to update on no fewer than 10 occasions with version 2 ufl max blue E-30-11-08. but it only runs for 90secs before error message download failed is received. Also tried old software same result. Id lost old cable and had to buy another nul with usb adapter which is recognised ok on ports 1,2,3.& 4 and all connections seem fine. Can anyone suggest where Im going wrong or a fix. Incidently I dont get message receiver detected although it appears to be updating albeit of sorts. It still works ok but daily update is a pain and can only think its the cable

Have a look in system info to see if its flashed or not, the message your getting is what everyone gets, it usually changes to successfull.

Can you try it on another PC with a serial socket for the null modem cable so that you dont have to use the USB adaptor?. I've done a few blue boxes the past couple of days and havn't had any problems, I can see you have read up on com port settings from your first post so thats the only thing I can suggest for now providing you have installed the driver for the USB adaptor.

Yes most new one's dont. Other than that get a PCI serial card and install it in your PC providing you have a spare slot.

Socket looks like this face on so you will be able to plug your Null modem cable straight in.

Eddie4....I've just faced the same problem. It has nothing to do with the cable as I have just flashed two other boxes only a couple mins ago. I've now done a factory reset which takes the firmware back to 1.0 SSC4 01 June 2007 H/W Ver 2.0s Bootstrap v001 and still get the message 'Downloading is failed' when I upload the firmware ... if I wait a minute or so it later sez Downloading successful, but doesn't update the firmware. Can't think of why we both have the same prob.

Plug your box back in and try it, the S/W Vers dont tally up like before, I did a blue the other day and in system info after the update the date had gone back to 2007 but was auto updating.

The factory default doesn't change the firmware so yours may have flashed correctly. Plug it back in and try.

Hi there, we differ slightly no matter how long I wait it remains download failed and version dosent change. the last time I did this I had no bother and evetually flashed 4 other boxes, this time its a nightmare and Im only going over old ground despite the help from others. I just cant grasp how it wont load

HiTek My apologies for not getting back sooner just got it flashed today w/o any probs,it seems the RS232 usb adapter was either faulty or contrary. The only query is the update reads S/W 1.0 SSC4 Jun 2007.H/W 2.0s and not Nov 2008 date which seems strange? It does however auto update.

That's what HiTeck has told you up above, regarding the date, is it updating for you or what. Nice to see that you got the damn USB Adaptor sorted.
