Eurovox max v newbie help please

Anyone help me here ?
I have just got a Eurovox max v and im assuming i need another lead other than the one that came with it-i.e the standard rs232 lead.

Also i can recieve the basic channels but there is no way of entering any codes on the box whatsoever,

i downloaded the latest version update but cannot get a response from the reciever through the lead i have at the moment

I bought a null modem cable but when i try to download it just says waiting for reciever and nothing else

is it just a null modem or a null modem in conjunction with a usb to serial adapter?

Sent it to a friend who has flashed it for me,but now when i do a power scan i get no channels and 8% quality ?

Is this a common and solvable problem

 

you will have to get him to flash it with 28/04 firmware as this was brought out to fix the 8% problem,press menu config system info to see what firmware is on the box.
