Hello all, I have been getting the 8% signal quality for a while now. But until a few weeks ago all was well. Then after a few min (5 or 10) everything would go choppy and I would sometimes lose signal. After a week or two of this I lost the rag and started trying to find the issue. Happly I have. The issue is the heat buildup of the largest chip on the system board. Simply by removing the outer top cover I have fixed this issue. (well not completely, you still get 8% but with very little or no brakeup) While it may void the warranty of systems. Mine was nearly up anyways. Next step is for me to get a heat transfer epoxy and attach a small heatsink to the the chip. This should allow the chip to cool better. If you can get an air flow over the top of the system it should be more than enough to cool it down.
good point ...also if your still having problems with the box make sure your pipe is working ok see how strong it is on your normal stations and make sure you have scarts in right place and pushed in tight same with cable going in to rf in and cable going out from loop out and if your using another device linked up to the box eg. dvd or vcr make sure the scarts are right cos my mothers box was going mad all week breaking up and i had a look at it she had a dvd recorder so you need scart from box to telly from the tv scart socket on the box then scart to dvd from vcr socket(on box )to one of the scarts on the dvd this is the bit she had wrong there is two on the dvd think they just say ext 1 and ext two i just had to try them both and put it in the right one and then another scart from the other dvd scart to the telly again if your telly has 3 or more scart sockets you should try match it to the one on the dvd eg. ext 2 to ext 2 ..... any how this prob is miles away from your prob but just to let people know that even if the box is working doesn`t mean your scarts are right cos hers was fine some days and breaking up the next but no problems since
