Eurovox PVR - com port problem

I have got the com port usb to rs232 cable and connected it to the null modem cable that is 9 pin female connector on both sides which is connected to the eurovox pvr box. Now when I run the ufl 1.1a update it asks me click on the donwload button which clicked then it gives an error com port not found. I have got a cd with this usb to rs232 cable using which I have also installed the drivers and the com port 11 is showing in the device manager. The os I am using on my computer is win vista 32 bit. Can any one please help me fix this problem.

 

you need to change the com port to between 1 and 4,there is a guide in the starview help under my post but its for xp so i,m not sure about vista.

I have changed the com port to 1 and it worked. Now after installing the software on the eurovox box I started the scan for channels and it completed but it did not give me an option to save it and view any channels once it completed. Do I need to download any channels list or something. Please let me know the symbold rate of Reading Berkshire area for the virgin broadband line.

 

would need to no who your provider was before virgin try 6887 if that dosnt work try 6952

Also wanted to tell you that once the scan is complete it says 8% quality and it does not allows me to save it and view any channels there is no channel list appearing.

 

Can any one help me please.
After scanning channels on eurovox pvr I get a screen with blank ch num, frequency, symbol rate and modulator, below that table it says quality with red bar and on the right is flashes 0 or 8% and thats it.
please help

 

Have you done as Karl said and tried both symbol rates with the cable in the Cable In Socket at the back of the EV?

sounds like it's not finding channels. it must be the wrong frequency or symbol rate.

 

Press menu, installation, user installation. Can you see a list of frequencies?

 

no it is not showing the list of frequency

 

OK press menu, config, clear data and factory settings, press OK.Turn off the EV from the back switch then back on again. Make sure coax is in the RF cable in socket at the back of the box and that you are plugged into the direct feed, i.e. no splitters.

Now do another powerscan using 6887 as the symbol rate. Then check frequency list and let us know.

 

i have done as you said but it is not helping it did scan but once finished it came to the screen with the table ch num frequency symbol rate modulator, but the table is blank, below it is showing quality is ranging betowwn 70 to 97 %

 

Have you got a VM box and is that working?

 

no i dont hav a vm box, but when i got this box yesterday i scanned the channels it show all the frequencies and the free to air channels were working like bbc, itv, but now since i have updated the box with the software ufl1.1a version for eurovox 5000. At present in the system information menu it is showing the software as KURO, bootstrap v001 and s/w ver as 10 ST4 Jul 15 2008. Please help?

 

Boxes are shipped FTA only so you will always get the FTA channels. Without you having a VM box do you have a live feed? I know you have some sort of feed but from the signal readings it doesnt look great.

All I can say is do a relash, factory reset and rescan. Make sure it is connected to the direct feed, i.e. no splitters. I have only seen this happen once before with the EV PVR and this fixed it. I apologise but I have been up since 5am and need to get some sleep. I hope this resolves it for you. If not dont worry we will sort it for you, there is always someone here to help.
