The problem may be with the serial card you have used.

    1. Go to the Start Menu
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Properties"
    4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
    5. Click on "Device Manager"
    6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
    7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your serial adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
    8. Go back to dnupman and make sure it is looking at the correct port. Dnupman when set to auto config should be finding it for you, thats the confusing bit.
    9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected.

Failing that I would recommend you use a USB to serial port adapter in conjunction with the null modem cable you have.

    USB Adapter info

This is only for reference and can be purchased much cheaper on fleabay.

i think i know what the problem is ,the cable which wsa supplyed is a straght tho lead ie 1 to 1 2 to 2 and so on i think is should be null wired ie, 1 to 9 2 to 8 if you get my drift..lol.if this is right i might re-wire it my self ...lol...

thanks again for yor help scouser

    cheers roger.

As you said if you have a straight through lead it wont work. As for you rewiring it I would say they are moulded type D9s and it would be easier to purchase one. The pin out that matter is the crossover between pin 2 & 3.

You need one similar to this:
