hi i was wondering has any1 any info on the new eurovox ultra itgate as i saw it on e-b-y earlier and it seems 2 be nagravision 2 future proof on a linux line vs the current ev max starview box etc on n1 and does anybody know when ntl are changing to n2 as i know a lot of people with the normal boxes that will be useless if it happens

dont know much about that box u seen on ebay but I do know eurovox 2008 will be ok with nagra2 and nagra3. kryptview will be ok with nagra2 as far as I am aware at the most it will be a firmware upgrade for both.

This info I got from my suppliers technical support team.

    hope this helps.

I would take what your technical support team said with a pinch of salt.

I hear eurovox max and starview arnt future proof for nagra 2 or 3. In spain I hear they are already on nagra 3. If it is itgate it will do nagra 3 as some in spain are on dreambox and this uses itgate system also

thanks 4 the reply kmac but i heard from different sources that the ev starview etc are ( not )compatible with n2 or n3 in current form unless some1 creates new firmware or a new update and i was told by a person from ntl yesterday , that they cannot afford the switch to n2 from current n1 , so here's hoping the source is reliable , also the seller of ev ultra itgate states that box works the same way as current ev max but is 100% future proof .

Yes that has been stated here before, but its a clone that works, a lot of linux boxes have been cloned, so its a matter of choice, you can pay a lot more for genuine linux boxes. The clone scenario is not the same for linux boxes as the firmware is open sourced and you will not have killer files out there, unlike the EV & SV boxes.

To cover most of the topic on encryption and codes....

DVB protocol describes a scarmbling lagorithm. This algorithm is called CSA, Common Scrambling Algorithm. Every service provider uses this algorithm.

In it's simplest way of implementing scrambled transmission, the service provider scarambles the service with a fixed key. Every one who is supposed to receive this service(subscribers) gets the fixed key and they receive the service.

This method is used for connections from one partner to another. It is not convenient option for a service provider to use it for their broadcasting.

In order to broadcast, they use an encryption system such as Irdeto2,Viaccess,Nagravision etc and to the question being asked its access keys.

How does it work? Firstly, the encryption system generates a random key for CSA. The service is scrambled with the key. Then, the key is encrypted by the proprietary (and also TOP SECRET) algorithm of the encryption system. ECM contains the encrypted key.The CAM/smartcard,firmware decrypts the key. Then, the receiver gets the key and descrambles the service.

It is possible for a service provider to use more than one scrambling system. The service is scrambled, the encryption system encrypt the key. Finally, different ECMs are transmitted, one for every scrambling system.

    KMAC.
