Hi there, I am trying to track down an answer to this question. I got my first Eurovox in last night and set up with no problems. Around 130 channels and everything I expected. I have it connected directly to the NTL connection coming in. No splitter. But what I do notice is that the picture quality is not quite as good as the small Pace box I got from NTL. It just seems a little bit more pixellated in the background. A bit more blocky. I am using a 40" LCD so I appreciate it will highlight imperfections more. But it's like watching a dvdrip that has lost just a little bit of its quality in the process. The Pace picture quality was far from perfect on close inspection but was okay. The Eurovox just seems to be a slight bit down on it. I appreciate a CRT tv would probably not show any of these differences so just wondering has anyone else got this or is it something I need to tweak or live with?
Sounds like you are in Ireland the frequencies on a subbed box are slighty different on some tps so maybe that is what you are witnessing. I just matched my frequencies to a subbed box and it seems to give me the same picture quality.
Alright Sc0user,do you mean by it gave you the same picture quality as in it gave you the same quality that's on the subbed box or the same as it always was i.e you found no difference ?
Yeah I'm in Ireland, Dublin. I just used the frequency supplied in the instructions and tried that. I think it was more England specific but it worked in terms of getting the channels. Unfortunately I don't have the frequency on me as I am in work but I'll put down the one I got once I get home. Thanks for the replies.
Basically I noticed a lot of channels had slight pixilation on the EV with the same cable connections as my subbed box so I changed frequencies on some tps to match the subbed box and noticed this improved them. My CDF for N** Dublin is in Eamos Library with all favs sorted and frequenies matched to the subbed box. About a half dozen tps just needed to be adjusted by 500Hz.
Could I adjust the frequencies on the S******w's to improve the quality or can it only be done on the eurovox ?
The starview scans slightly diffrently and you will see it pick up frequencies on some channels ending at 250Hz and 750Hzs when a subbed box only ends at 000 and .500Hzs , you can adjust frequencies if you like.
Thanks for your replies. I have it connected using a gold plated scart. Same as what I used for the Pace box. I changed some of those frequencies as suggested and it did improve it a bit but it's still there. I noticed for example with Sky One last night that the background got a bit pixellated at some points during what I was watching. Now I did check my firmware and it has a date of Sep 6th. So I am not sure if that is the latest. It does support widescreen, I just see two options instead of 3 and no signal booster option. Unless of course I am reading the widescreen wrong but it has the same as the Pace on most channels where I can see all the picture with none of it hidden.
The latest firmware Kuro Beta 2 has the signal booster and widescreen option, you will find it in Eamos FTA Library at the bottom of my post. Regards the problem with Sly one, N** were doing some work last night and parts of Dublin where affected, especially on Sly one.
Thanks for this Scouser. Tell me this then, how come I have widescreen on the firmware I have. I can see the full picture on most channels. Some like RTE 1 it seems to not always work and you can only partially see the RTE logo but that was regular enough with the pace box too.
Hi "Ivan" LOL The Kuro images are the only ones with true widescreen enabled. Some channels still broadcast in 14:9 and 4:3 as well as 16:9, your TV settings are probably compensating using anamorphic compression which condenses the picture to allow a form of WS viewing. If you use any of the Kuro images you will then be able to enable the widescreen option and you will then see the difference, e.g you will see the full logo on RTE etc.
I can see the full RTE logo on RTE 2 just 1 plays up a bit at the moment. So I suppose the anamorphic compression could be what is distorting the picture somewhat. I'll try the new software then and see where that brings me.
No problem, please use Kuro Beta 2 as this performs an auto factory reset. Here is some info: 1) WIDESCREEN Go To MENU / Config / TV Setting Options Available: 16:9 True Widescreen 4:3 Centre / Letterbox / Full 2) SIGNAL BOOSTER If you live in a low signal area and have weak signal problems when scanning or picture breaks up when watching. Go to Menu /Config / Settings / Last option Default Settings Off Switch On/ Save & Exit IMPORTANT INSTALLION INSTRUCTIONS: If you are flashing a Brand New box i.e. with no software currently loaded then flash as normal. If you are upgrading your box i.e. it already has software on the box please follow these instructions. Save Your Channel Data File by Using the Software to Upload Channel Data From Box To Your Desktop PC. Then flash. RESCAN BOX or DOWNLOAD YOUR CHANNEL DATA FILE FROM YOUR PC.
Is that KURO_BETA_WS_SB which you have put a link to in another thread? Do I still need to clear data?
This is the one you need http://www.4shared.com/file/2838073..._MaxV_Kuro_BETA2.html?dirPwdVerified=3715b75e Just flash the box and download your saved channel data file back onto it and thats you done.
Where exactly are the frequencies you changed in Eamos Library Sc0use, I can't seem to find them ? I'm going to give changing the frequencies on the S******w a go to see if I can improve the quality.
I should update this. I updated the firmware and it looks great. One other issue I did wrong was mixing up the vcr and tv connections. So I think I was passing the signal through the dvr before it hit the cable box and that was effecting the quality. Thanks for the help.
