Hey friends, dvdfab platinum allows a 30 day free trial and has 1 click back up, so why not suggest this ?

Bull, try dvdfab platinum. Download from here

    http://club.cdfreaks.com/f116/dvdfab-5-0-9-5-beta-out-252806/

and then use the 1 click back up for entire disc.

When you have more time, then you can work on dvdfabHD and fixvts, shrink and imgburn.

    BTW

    definition of transcode
    (dvd shrink )

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcoding

    as compared to encode
    (dvd rebuilder)

I am still suspicious of your drive and hoping that after tomorrow it will be better for you.

BTW: If you get a chance go ahead and post a new ImgBurn log for us to take a look at.

ok first error is fix vts sectors failed
reason could not find vts_04_o.bup file
    so from here i continue
second is device io control (fsctl-lock-volume-failed)
    device [2.0.0] hp dvd writer 300c 9h o4 (h:) ata
unable to lock volume for exclusive access
    reason access denied
hint you have another program using the device please close the program and click try again

the prob is this is the only program i have running

ill continue second time it worked but i have to see if it has volume ok it has nothing no sound no picture no nothing

when using imgburn what is the process to write a dvd

i choose the write to dvd and then highlighted the whole film all 18 sectors and i got nothin
    did i do it wrong??

Are you burning to dual layer disks? Wondering as imgburn is showing burn speeds of 2.4x & 4x.

When is the last time you ran disk defragment?

When have you last ran a disk check?

This is an old burner trying to read today's new media.
    W 18:16:59 DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed! - Reason: Access is denied.
Another program is currently using the drive.
W 18:15:57 Fix VTS Sectors Failed! - Reason: Could not find VTS_04_0.BUP file.
Copy the VTS_04_0.IFO file to somewhere on your HDD. Rename it VTS_04_0.BUP. Now move that renamed file into the folder that it originally came from.

You may need a program such as "anydvd" to copy some discs. The cycle redun error is written into many dvd's to keep you from copying it! Some dvd's have it some don't. You need a new burner for your PC. Fry's electronics is cheap but you can get a good one for under $40.00. Good blank discs are a must also, such as verbatim dvd+R. Laptops not very good for disc copy. Try new burner, new blank disc's, new movie, new program, see how you make out.

    @bobkerce

Why spend $40 at fry's when he can get a new one from newegg.com for under $25 with free shipping.

Better media has been suggested also, as well as laptop burners being not the best.

Yep, got two Lite-Ons less than a month ago for 24.99 each. Both are excellent drives thus far.

I have several drives. The ones I have been the most pleased with as far as cost to quality is absolutely the LiteOns. You can't go wrong, and they booktype with no hassles.
