I guess Il go first, on me mom's side Im Norwegian, swiss, and welsh. And posibly German. And my dad's side is the old family (it was on the second boat over to America) and through him, Im English, and Scottish, Welsh, And some of my Scotish family were sent into Ireland in the 1600's by the Brits so maybe that counts.

Hmmm...I have a cousin who is really into this geneology thing; I keep telling myself to talk to her about it when I go home but somehow never get around to it.

I'm the first in my family to be born in the US, my family is from Quebec north of Montreal; I was born in RI but raised there until my mid teens. If only on paper, my heritage is entirely of french decent but I'm sure that's not entirely true ... while Americans were busy fighting the Indians, the french were having a grande ol' time which is why most of us Quebecois have high cheekbones, dark hair and a nose that could double as a landing strip. I'd have to double check but I believe she said that she traced the family in Quebec for somewhere around 275 years when they came from france (they were all catholic, lived in the same area and the catholic church kept good records). They were farmers and lumberjacks in a rather remote area so not a whole lot is known ... my guess is the family lived the same way on an extended family farm and an extended family lumber business for all but the most recent of those years.

Well I’m glad to be back on AfterDawn.

Anyway...I’m pure Italian on my dad's side and pure Finnish on my mom's side.

    50% Finnish 50% Italian

Im pure Egyptian on both sides. My grandpa was a general for the egyptian army in WW2 and was good friends with Sadat. My dad and uncle went to med school (al zarqawi was in my dad's class) in egypt and then came to NYU to graduate. They went back to Egypt and my dad met my mom. They then tried to go to Australia as they have many cousins there and were denied. They went back to the US and live there. Right now I live in western new york.

    To all,

Nobody's done it yet but I don't want to see any politics brought into this thread. Any and all who try it will be going into dangerous territory with me.

German, English and wee bit of French via Canada. Family name was originally Braun not Brown but was changed for reasons unknown - maybe during during one of the wars when it was easier to have a not-so-German sounding name.

Father's side, Itallian (Grandma and Grandpa both right off the boat).

Mother's side, German and Irish (Grandma Irish and German, Grandpa German).

So 50% Itallian, ~33% German, ~17% Irish. I hail from an alcohol rich heritage :).
