Ok, Before everyone starts on it. I just wanna say, I know these types of threads have probably been posted so many times. No need to go off on me I have looked around and seen guides on backing up games already, Does this one look like it should od the trick? http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/375572 But, I haven't been able to find anything about adding a new, bigger hard drive. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Is it hard to do for someone who knows just a bit about computers? I wanna put MC360 on it too, following this guide. http://www.xtreme-source.com/tutorials-xbox/2042-how-update-xbox-media-center-qwix.html Thanks everyone in advanced.
alright man, you're in one of the right places. the easiest method will be if you have Slayers 2.7 disk. with a hard modded box, all you have to do is drop a hard drive into the Xbox and boot from the CD, and it does basically everything for you. With a soft modded box, I know you have to do some fancy hot swapping crap and I don't like that at all. you can find slayers disk at the "usual places" as far as putting XBMC on there, it is really no different than putting any other app or game. FTP the folder into the directory that is appropriate and you are all set. I don't like Qwix so neither of those guides look any good to me. They're both accurate, but I prefer a different program. And, I would never use the method in the second link. I just wouldn't trust it.
Could recommend a guide that you would trust? I think I got a "reliable source" lol to put a bigger hard drive in it for me so no need for that. Could you give me a guide on how to install XB<C and MC360?
I'm not too sure what midnight commander is but for XBMC all you have to do is download it, extract it (if it is compressed) and FTP it over to the xbox. it really has no need for a separate tutorial. If you can use an FTP program you already know what to do. I try to keep my applications in E:\Apps and my games in F:\Games but they work anywhere your ini file is set to search. If you're having trouble reading the .ini file just give me a shout and I'll write a quick tutorial up for it.
Alright, when I installed my HDD, I can't remember all of the details, but this is pretty similar to what I did: http://www.copying-xbox-games.com/tutorials.php?tutorialid=00000032 This is a complete tutorial on how to Upgrade your HDD. Well it's actually on how to get the HDD all Formated and Partitioned. So use this. I also have this website: http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list When I wanted to upgrade my HDD, I bought a HDD, and then checked here, to see if it was compatible with the Xbox. So here you can look to see what HDD's are compatible and what are not. This is really useful on upgrading to a larger HDD.
