Hi, I am new to the inside of xbox's but play around a bit with my computer so please bear with me. I just bought a 500gig hard drive for my son's xbox. 2 years ago I got it chipped so that I could make back ups of the games. This did not work well as they would play afew times but then start freezing or not loading at all. Anyway I have evolution x on it. So I bought a hard drive and a friend offered to put it in. But when he opened the xbox he said there was no chip, that I paid just for a softwear upgrade. So do I need a chip to put in the larger drive or is the evolution x softwear all that is needed?
no you don't need a chip. find a tut on installing a larger hard drive on a softmodded xbox, they are everywhere...
