i have smart ftp and i cannot connect to it for some reason. it says cennection denied.i put the ip adress to automatic and i tried putting the ip adress on user name and tried putting xbox as password and username.just for some reason i cant connect. i also have evo-x and everytime i get to the evo-x dash board it sets the ip adress to manuel.So if you have any information about how to connect to smart ftp and how to keep ip adress to stay automatic when i log on evo-x dash board please tell me.

 

on the dash board you should be able to go to the settings or system settings - under here there should be an option for "enable DCHP" if this is set to enabled then your xbox should get its IP address from the router or pc that has the internet connection.

Personally if your trying to FTP its easier to have a static Ip for the Xbox, then in Smart FTP you just enter the IP address of the xbox, the username (Xbox) and the password (xbox, or what ever you changed it to in the Evo dash settings.

One important thing, if you exit the settings page in the dashboard by using back or "b" then it doesnt save changes, you have to scroll right down to the bottom and save and exit.

is there any specific reason why you want to have auto IP assign? The reason I ask is if you auto assign your xbox could have different IP's each time you FTP where as if you static assign its always going to have the same one.

hay i lso need some help with something else to.I have connected to it and everything but a tutorial said something like you need to copy your halo2 files or it said the game..... somthing like that but anyways it said i need to copy my halo2 stuff to my xbox e hard drive and my computers e hard drive.Im not even know if this is true, cuz im just trying to download mods on my old halo2 maps that i downloaded.It also said that u might want to copy ur halo2 stuff becuase if you don't, it will mess up your halo2 file or map (don't remember but it was something like that).I don't understand why it will mess up ur halo2 old maps and files becuase im just trying to mod my old new maps.If you do need to copy them then plz tell me how to copy them to ur xbox e drive and computer.

Well since you know how to ftp go to your new dashboard. Make sure it is not on auto run games if it is switch it and click save and exit. Then when on your new dashboard put in Halo 2. Then ftp to your Xbox. Go into the D folder. Make a folder on your computer called Halo 2. Then copy all those files into the Halo 2 folder, except the campaign maps which have numbers in their names, you just made. When that's done go in on your computer back where you can see your Xbox's C , D , E folder, ect. Then open up the E folder. Go into the games folder and transfer that whole Halo 2 folder that you just copied over from your Xbox exlcuding the campaign maps. Once that is done go on your computer and make two more new folders. One being called Modded Maps and the other Original Maps. Then copy all the multiplayer maps into both of those folders. Mod the modded maps however you like. Encryp them and resign them. Then replace the ones on your Xbox HD. Restart your Xbox and go into applications. "Halo 2" should be one of the choices, click it and start playing!

 

one other thing to add - when you mod a map you sometimes need to clear the cache on the machine (previous non modded maps are sometimes there) empty the X,y and Z folders before you run the game. first time you run a modded map, if its been re-signed properly it may take a while longer to run - be pacient as its re-caching the map, after the first time it should be faster.

I don't understand your question.

 

the Tutorial you read is telling you to take a copy of your orriginal map files (back them up) so if you mess up a map you can still revert them back to standard, always make the modifications to a copy.

If you go play on XBLive with modded maps you will get banned sooner or later but just your account and not your Xbox. If you have a mod chip and connect to XBLive with the chip active then you will get your box banned.

Its only telling you to back up the orriginal maps to be sure you can fix any problems.

basically...

copy all maps to the PC
Make a copy of the maps (backup)
modify the copied (backed up) maps
resign the maps
copy the modified maps back to the xbox
clear the cache
run the game
play the game with mods
(keep a copy of the unmodded maps on the PC)

 

when u say ur account will be banned do you meen that you can't play matchmaking anymore?Or ur account is banned where you can't play with that account anymore.

 

You get banned from Matchmaking unless you do some real hardcore stuff
that pisses off Bungie or Microsoft.

 

ok.So do you have to copy halo2 old maps?Im just trying to softmod my new maps but does that mean i have to copy my old maps on halo2?

 

Well if you are only modding the new maps you don't even have to put Halo 2 on your Xbox hard drive.

 

ok i got the maps showing on ftp now how do i put the modded files on them to make the mods work?

 

Save the maps onto your computer. Make two new folders one called Modded Maps and one called Original Maps. Copy the map files into both folders. Then open the map of the map you want to apply the ppf to in DotHalo from the modded maps folder. Click apply ppf patch. Find the patch and click apply. Click fix encryption. Then resign the map and ftp it back over. Then you can play them.

 

If u have halo 2 on your hard drive can u still go on xbox live using the disk,andcan u got on xbox live with the modded dashbored?

 

can some 1 email me the evox bios and dash board i have a few bios like the x2 bios but dont know if there is a dashboard included need a little help dont want to get stuck after i flash the chip

 

Depends how you modded your Xbox.

You can use Slayer's and hddmaker to create a bios for your Xbox. It's simple, google it, you should find it.
