Well looks like the upgrade does not let you use 16x media ... As I burnd video on a 16x disk on my pc finalized it and it still would not play it. Guess now we must wait for the next firmware up date to use 16x disks if they even make one. At least the 8x disks work now, guess thats the best we can ask for from a loser company like Emerson. Like I said before there hardware is good they just have very VERY poor support... migraine@knology.net
Hmmm? Not to stick up for the company, but they tell you on the customer service line that the upgrade will only boost the DVD-R disc support to x8 so why would you try a x16 anyway? I find the customer support to be helpful when I have called.
I did not expect it to rec to 16x but I would have thought it cold play back video on a 16x disk that was burned and finalized on my pc but it could not do it, my old dvd player could play it just fine..but it coul dnot even be loaded on the Emerson... Where did U see help? I found nothing about a upgrade or anything of any use on there sight unless it was just added....
Well when you sad it could read the x8 I thought you had upgraded your unit with the x8 upgrade disc that you must order from funai or download from a hack site on the net. I called the 800 number add spoke with customer service. They were very helpful. They told me what kinds of discs to use and told me about the upgrade. Their website is useless, except for the owners manual pdf.
I did get the update I did install it but like there web sit e it ha d no info at all not 1 bit just a # to call... I live on the east cost..I work at night s so I check the mail when I get home after 7am there # was on the west cost I would have to wait till 12pm to call them there website has NOTHING! I googled ewr10d4 & Firmware and got the afterdawn.com message bords thats where I got the info on what keys to hit to install the update ...I got No help from Emerson what so ever!!!!!!!!!!! 6 days late r they responded to my e-mail that was a lot o f help! If any one lives buy the emerson office Do us all a big favor and Blow it up! migraine@knology.net
When I called I got a Rec..saying they did not open till 9am PACIFIC Time. Thats 12pm EST Oh well does not mater now...Buy the time 8x media is gone I will have bought a better DVD Rec. and you can bet it will not Be Emerson! But I may not need another one for some time, now that I have the upgrade installed it's burning 8x dvd-r's just fine.
