    Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and pretty much any forum to be honest so please go easy on me!

Anyway I've just received and am operating a Eurovox EX500 PVR with a 120G Seagate (I think) Hard Drive.

I had the same message many others seem to be getting of Hard Drive Full or not installed. This frustrated me no end so I tested the HD in a laptop and it spun up fine. I pushed it back in the Digibox, again no same response "HD full or not Installed". I got pretty much fed up, tried all the fixes (reboots and so on), so had a look through the grill on the top. It looked like the PCB was scratched so I thought perhaps I could take off the PCB that connects the HD to the main board and use a ribbon connector. Anyway when I opened up my Digibox I noticed the Main PCB has a riser card which connects to the HD carrier. Looking at this carefully it was apparent that the riser card was not properly pressed onto the connecting pins on the main board so I just pushed it further down. Upon powering up, the HD was now spinning and after pressing I think it was pause then record it's all working great. Records absolutely fine now.

You can check yours without opening the box by looking through the side slots on the right hand side. If the gold coloured pins are visible between the main board and the riser board you probably have a problem with the connection coming loose in transit. On mine the base of the pins were showing about 3mm even though they looked connected. Once the connector was pushed home the pins were not visible on my box. It may be possible to push the board down onto the pins without opening your box up using a narrow tool through the top grill if you have this problem. Well I fixed mine obviously invalidating any warranty. I'm not recommending you do this yourselves so it's your choice but please be aware that your messing with 240v if you are not careful.

I hope this helps and please let me know.

    Thanks Cummbo.

A last resort, I would suggest sending your box back to your supplier before attempting to do this!!!!

    Hmm,

I thought this was a forum for digibox problems not a chat room!

As previously answered in my other post, My initial post gives identifies a quick opportunity to check your box. Look through the side grill and confirm if there is a possible connection fault (perhaps a first resort - without opening or tampering with the box or spending many hours with firmware and reinstalls). You can't firmware fix faulty kit. Then make your own choice on the remedy. If it all looks OK then carry on with the other fixes.

All in all this was my observation and I fixed a real fault that others may also have.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers, Cummbo.
