    Hi,
Can anyone recommend a free utility that can convert Exchange 2003/2010 EDB to a PST? I need to recover a users mailbox and export it to a pst.
    Thanks!

For free options, Microsoft provides the Recovery Storage Group (RSG) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824126 for Exchange 2003 - 2007 and the Recovery Database for Exchange 2010http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876954.aspx however there are rules and limitations with these options.

ExMerge will only work against a database that is mounted in a production server or RSG and is really only supported up to Exchange 2003 although you can hack it to work on 2007. Also ExMerge only supports the ANSI PST format which has a hard limit of 2GB PST files and starts to degrade at about 1.8GB so while its free its not a very good choice IMO unless all the mailboxes are small, however you can filter your exports by date to keep under the 2GB limit if desired.

There are no free utilities to do this and the ones that are available range from a few dozen dollars to lots more. Exchange Server Recovery Toolbox is the one I use:

    http://www.oemailrecovery.com/exchange_server_recovery.html

Also best thing to do is to do a Google search for something like "Export Exchange EDB Mailboxes to PST" and you will see several options that you can obtain test/demo licenses for so that you can review, analyze and decide whats best for you.
