Strange thing really. In one user account explorer.exe does not generate any thumbnail views of the video files and crashes. WMP also cant play the files and it also crashes. However in the administrator account we have no problem at all. I have been reading forums for two day now and am in total confusion as to what needs to be done. OK Latest update. I got things working again. Even though no ideas from anyone here I thought I would share the fix. Found out that my AC3 codec was faulty and this was prohibiting windows explorer from rendering a video preview thumbnail of the video files in my video folder. I used gspot to look at what files the windows was using to render this file and saw an issue. Uninstalled AC3 and rebooted then installed the latest AC3 codec. I tried a lot of different things from a lot of forums but in the end it was only something as simple as a codec. Hope this helps someone else.
Thanks for the update. Often programs that add a shell extension are to blame. This is something different. I wonder why it worked in the Admin account but not others?
Not really sure about the admin account but since I made the fix all has been running well. Hopefully I can close this now.
