When I run a search on Windows explorer I am getting the message "Windows Explorer encountered an error etc". The error says: Error signature AppName:explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName:msvcr71.dll ModVer:7.10.3052.4 Offset: 00010582 I have run RegCure and it says 1778 errors. I havent clicked fix erros as I am a bit wary about just letting some new program make alterations to my registry etc. I also did a scan with RegistrySmart and I think that came up with more errors. I had a brief look through the errors though and I know that some of them are right as there are links to programs there that I deleted ages ago. What should I do/trust??
I think you've got two choices: 1. Trust those programs. They seem safe to me but, I only looked at the sites, I haven't used 'em. or 2. Use the Windows recovery disc to repair the errors. Personally, I use the recovery disc.
Just to let you know how I fixed it. Found an article at: http://www.helpwithwindows.com/techfiles/explorer-crashes.html and did as suggested using shexview and figured out it was a problem with NeroScout (looks like it can be a few different things). Have disabled that and all is well!!!!!
