Running recently installed, fully updated and cleaned XP Pro SP2 and having shutdown problem. When Turn Off or Reset is selected by either of two logged on users, message comes up stating Explorer.exe is running. When progress meter reaches end of bar, message states Exolorer.exe Not Responding. Selecting End Now allows process to comlete normally. Has anyone experienced this and can advice be offered, please.
hmmm maybe you should use the repair function from the xp cd or download another explorer.exe. and you could post a hjt log if you want, but repairing will fix it.

Hi Tocamuma, The people at Winguides.com provided me with a file that appears to have corrected my problem of Shutdown or Reset not performing correctly I.E. Explorer.exe running, progress bar goes to end of bar and message changes to "Explorer.exe not responding", select "End Now" and Shutdown or Reset proceeds as normal to "Logging Off".
