(Comodo Personal Firewall v2.3.4) will that be compatable with windows stock fire wall and is it worth getting ? plus is there a better free one?
Stick with Comodo and disable the Windows Firewall. There are various evasion and disabling attacks which have worked in the past and probably still work against the Windows Firewall. Comodo, on the other hand, is one of the best firewalls out there, namely because it is difficult to kill and handles process and DLL injection well.
Hi nghtpnshr, You cannot run more than one firewall at a time. It will cause conflicts, huge system resource consumption and BSOD's. Check out the second link in my sig for some great free ones, they are better IMHO, grab yourself a copy of Zone Alarm Free Remember to turn windows firewall off before you install a new one (Start > Controll Pannel > Secuirty Centre > Windows Firewall Off) Good luck.

It's so-so. The firewall is ok, though. If you still have an active anti-virus subscription, keep it. Otherwise, remove it (if you can) and use Comodo and AVG. The following are common programs that you'll want to allow to connect: svchost.exe (Generic Host Process for Windows) firefox.exe (Firefox browser) Opera.exe (Opera browser) spoolsv.exe (Spooler SubSystem App, ONLY if you have a networked printer - otherwise, don't allow it to connect.) netscape.exe (Netscape browser, outdated) thunderbird.exe (Thunderbird email client) outlook.exe (Microsoft Outlook, but it's recommened that you not use Outlook for other security reasons) wuauclt.exe (Windows Automatic Update Client) SYSTEM (different firewalls call this different things, but this may be necessary on boot-up) iexplore.exe (Internet Explorer, though I recommend NOT allowing it to connect, and instead use another browser. IE is the door through which most security problems enter.) Also, you'll want your anti-virus program's updater to connect, and possibly other internet-based programs to connect as well. Remember also to unplug your modem while you are uninstalling and/or reinstalling a firewall, and to disable any other firewalls i.e. you cannot run 2 firewall at once in most cases.
ty alot thats been verry helpfull i dont like avg ; but i hear people do i got alot up and my mcafee's current for one year ill fix then ty
