Hey everyone, just a small question. I have a Lacie External dvd burner which i bought with verbatim Dvd+R DL's.
And I was wondering if it's performance may suffer, or it may cease to work at all if i connect it to my fairly old computer with USB 1.1 ports. And it recommends 2.0. I am getting a new computer tomorrow. But i had a problem burning An ISO onto the disc with ImgBurn. Where nothing would load, and it would keep saying the semaphore period timed out. Which i expected was the problem of my 1.1 ports not giving the drive enough power. I'm only 14 so i don't have a TON of knowledge about this sort of thing, although i am quite computer savvy. This bothered me somewhat. So any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think it's the power, the transfer speed might be adequate for a CD burning at 4x, but for the amount of data on a DVD I doubt it would make the attempt..

I'd agree it is also the speed at which you're able to transfer data which is giving you issues.

Your external burner is presumably mains powered so it won't use the USB for power.
