External enclosure

    So i have a 300 GB Diamondmax 10 6l300r0 hard drive, the label says its a "PATA 133 HDD" and i'm wondering which type of external enclosure should i buy so this will work as an ext. HDD in it? like, is there anything in the title that i should look for that it has? thanks

    you want an enclosure for ide hd not sata hd. can get usb2 connection or firewire to pc.

    3.5 or 5.25 IDE/PATA with USB2.0, 1934a/b (firewire), and or gigabit (NAS).

    AHH I'm extremely aggravated at the moment. I purchased this http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/products/consstor/enclosures/ACS-200/ and inserted my hard drive in it. I plug it into the computer, and it shows that it's recognized, "installs" itself, i disconnect it, it says it installed successfully, I reconnect it and says a Maxtor drive has been detected. But nothing shows up under my computer! Is there anything I'm supposed to do to get it to show up?

    you have to partition & format the hd.

    well, i have MaxBlast 4 on my computer, and i did just that, partitioned and formatted the hard drive, at least it says it did

    bump... i tried formatting and partioning again and it still acts the same way
