I know that you can use an external hard drive on the rear usb port with the 360 to store movies, music, and pics, but is this possible on the xbox1? i don't really want to use up all my space on 5g movie files...unless i'm doing something wrong with those and they are supposed to be smaller...any ideas?
Here is a real interesting way for you to do so. Get an external drive. Take that drive and run the linux xbox HDD tools so you can format the drive to the FatX format. Then make a break away cable extension with a set of male to female usb cables. Then get an adapter for a firewire to USB and presto. If you don't understand the whole usb thingy let me know and I'll post a pic of what I did to give you a better idea. I'd do it now but I'm in bed and to lazy to do it!
So, throwing an idea and some questions out there, but you are saying that I can format it as one giant partition instead of the C,E,and F parts that XBHDM makes? And if so, can I give it a new letter or will it see it as G still (I have a 160g hdd with 21GBs on G) and add more space to the location there? Has anyone done this before? Also, is there a way to make a straight extension cable to firewire connection? i don't know the setup of the firewire, but i have constructed a USB connection already for my keyboard and mouse for Gentoox...
I would also like to just unplug it from my xbox and into my pc and transfer files if that is possible...please, any other help/ideas for this?
