okay so i've got my brand new hard drive, put it in an enclosure and got it working with my Macbook Pro just fine. I plugged it into my PC and it won't show up.

I know that I have to initialize the drive on the PC to be able to use it but I was just wondering if a) initializing means formatting in which case it would erase all the data and b) if I initialize it with the PC will it still work with my Mac?

so basically I just want to be able to use this hard drive with my PC AND my MAC

    any help is greatly appreciated

well i dot know if its a master or a slave but...

as far as initializing is concerned, I found out that the reason it wasn't showing up as another drive on 'my computer' is that the drive has to be initialized first.. i dont remember how to do that but I was just going to find out how again

i've seen 1 working on a pc work on a mac. keep info on the mac until you have partitioned & formated the external on the pc then hookup to mac to get that info.
