external hard drive problem(edit-nevermind,prob solved)

    i have a maxtor 3100 and i recently copied all my files into it. i set me new computer up and the external isnt coming up. i tried it on a laptop too and it didnt work there ethier.can anyone tell me what to do so that it sees the hard drive?
