external hard drive problems

    hello i have a fantom 80gb hard drive on my dell laptop. i use to keep my external on all the time plugged up or not. then one day i turned it off and then turn it back on later and it started acting up makin a click noise and then it stop showing on my pc. now when i plug it up using a usb port it will make the noise on windows xp to let me know it notice it but still wont show up in my computer. is my external broke??

    if its making clickin noises id say its likely the hard drive is bust

    yes its clicking and it will click for a few mins and stop

    if its still under warranty id get on the phone to the manufacturer, your hard drive is broken.

    i had this hard drive for about 2 years or more so warrenty is no good i jus lost all my music ohh well never get another fantom drive

    So let me get this straight, you left it on for nearly 2 years?

    Well that would put me off fantom lol all drives expire eventually just like most foods lol.
