I have an internal hard drive that I just installed into an external enclosure. Was just wondering do I have to do anything after installing it into the box like formating it?

If you are putting it into an external enclosure, then yes you are going to have to format. You want to put data on it right? What type of enclosure are you using?

this is my enclosure smart drive enclosure
This was my hard drive from a previous computer where the mother board died and psu. Nothing wrong with the hard drive just figure use it instead of putting it in a box.

LOL! For some reason I thought you were talking about a storage enclosure, not that. When I hear enclosure, this is what I think.

Lol. That looks suspiciously like a server case, not a hard disk enclosure...
To answer your question pirate, you will have to format the drive if it is new, or if it isn't already formatted. If it was formatted and operation when it was in your old PC, it's ready to go as soon as you plug it into your enclosure.

No, it's definitely a storage enclosure, it's an MSA60. I got a few of these bad boys sitting on my bread rack.

Fair enough, it looks just like one of my friends' Server cases.

Yea, I got a few others that are much slimmer then that. They do it to conserve on space ya know.
