Hi, I am looking to buy an external hdd for my laptop and have a couple questions as to what I should get. The external hdd will be accessed as much as the internal hdd so with that in mind I was wondering: - Should I get as big a cache as possible (8mb or 16mb)? - Should it come with a fan? Thanks for your advice
If it's going to be used extensively then you definitely want one with a fan on it. Cache won't matter too much except in larger file transfer situations, which could also be effected by the type of connection it has. All in all I would recommend checking a site like toms hardware for reviews and product info, they're one of the best for shopping around and comparing products.
