I wrote in a week or so ago about my external hd. It was wd250 passport. I had to run a recovery app to save the data. I got wd320 passport and now it is all of a sudden saying it needs to be formatted. I restarted and reaatached the drive (usb 2.0) and all the data came back.Anybody know why this might be happening? Thanks
More likely to do with software bugs or drivers either way it's a quirk one of my computers has where by it un-detects the hdd then re-detects it every so often,yet the other comp which is the same model just a bit later with a diff mobo never has that issue,also when i run linux on this comp it won't un-detect & it will do as it should. It might pay to run thru your drivers list & delete any old or unused or outdated drivers,i saw an article on it a few days ago,just gotta figure out how to tell which drivers are obsolete..lol..
