    Hello all at afterdawn,
Been staring at the site for years getting answers without ever having to ask a question, but i wasn't sure were to look for this, so i made an account finally, well anyway here we go...

I would like to hook an external HD to a T.V. I want to do this so i can take all my movies and decrypt them to my external so i wouldn't have to use discs anymore. My question is this possible, would i have to convert to AVI/MpeG, or would it just be easier to use Media Center(XP) hooked up to the T.V. with a normal PC attatched.

If i went usb, are the any t.v.'s with that option, or would i have to go through a dvd player to try and do this? I know T.V.s have the PC Monitor hook up.

    Thankyou,
    Trevor

As far as I know there isn't any tv that will do video playback from a hard drive directly.

There are a number of devices that you can get for video playback.
There are the Divx compatible dvd players, some with usb support
The Xbox 360 can playback media from a usb or can be added on to your home network (media centre extender).(don't know about other gaming consoles)
D-link (possibly other brands) have network devices designed to support media over the network, not sure if you can hook the external HD directly to this device or your required to store it on a computer/storage device on the network
Connect the PC to the tv
Wolverine Media Storage/Player is a portable player that hooks up to your television.

As you can tell I've been looking into some of the options as well.
