    Hello,

I've just bought one of these today, and when I put my maxtor 80GB HD into it it doesn't get picked up by Windows XP.

Well it picked it up, but it says Where was a problem with the hardware so it may not function correctly".

it then doesn't show as a drive in Explorer.

Ive tried a couple of times, but no joy.

Ive even tried formatting the drive in my desktop PC, but again it still won't work.

Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to fix this problem ?

    Thanks,
    J.

if youve put the HD in the caddy yourself take it out and try it on an IDE connection. if the drive functions as it should on an IDE connection then its likely that converter in the caddy is faulty.

ive bought a caddy with a faulty converter in before and had the exact same problem

if it is the caddy send it back where you got it from and they should swap out the converter for a working one
