External HDD help???!!!

    Hi guys, i have just brought a Hitachi S1000U 1TB External Hard Drive Hi Speed USB, i have loaded all my video files onto the HDD and then plugged it into my dvd player to watch the movies on it, but my dvd player couldnt find it! what would be the reason for this?!?!?! my last externall HDD worked fine with my dvd player,
