    Which is better?

    Also I was wondering:

    1) how important is cooling for the HDD in an enclosure?
    2) are multi-platter HDDs better or worse than single platter?
    3) Is the 16mb buffer memory size vital or will 8 do?
    4) Does Usb2.0 at 480MBs really perform slower than Firewire at 400MBs?

I ask because the two devices i was looking at are:

    with

    or

Tell me what ye think of them. Thanks in advance!

    1)Usually not very
2)Nothing major...single has lower noise levels and less power consumption.
    3)8MB will do just fine
4)Yeah, but FireWire 800 runs at *gasp* 800MB/sec. You might want to look around for one of those. And FireWire 400 is still very good when compared to USB2.0...can't really go wrong with either one.
