ok i have an external hd, i took it apart to upgrade it it works fine, but when i go to My Computer it's no listed with the other hd's, like it used to, is there any way i can make it so up? i did a device manager it says it works fine, i pluged it in the first time and it said that it was sucessfully installed, what gives?
If you put a brand new drive in the external box you will have to prep it so windows recognizes it.... Goto your control panel... Double click "Administrative Tools" icon... Double click "Computer Managment" icon.... On the left columb click "Disc Managment" You will see your drive on the Right side... Right click the drive and click "Initilize Disc"... Go through the small wizard to initilize the disc and format it as "NTFS"... Now it should recognize the hard drive : )
