when i first bought my sony drive it worked fine when hooked up inside my computer.. but i bought 2 lite on burners recently and hooked up the sony DRU 510A into an external butecc USB2 case. at first it was able to burn dvds, but now whenever i try to burn a DVD nero tells me a reset has occurred and it fails and im left with a coaster. i have since then reinstalled windows (format HDD and reinstall) and no luck (i did not reinstall for this reason) im also experiencing another problem. im able to RIP dvds with it but it only reads at 2X... and that is painfully slow. im not shure the read speed but im shure it is faster then 2 x since its burn speed is 4x... i think its read speed is 12x. it will NOT go past 2x it speeds up to it but thats it never 2.1x just 2.

there must be something wrong. i have another lite-on drive in the same bytecc case connected through USB2 and it reads fine (it is not a burner) so it cant be the case or the USB. i get speeds up to 13 or 14 with the other external drive.

if anyone has anything i can try it is very much appreciated as i want to use this burner....

    thank you!

check for a firmware update from drive manufacturer
