Anyone know if they are working on something similar to this. I got two External USB HDDs and would love for them to come up with something similar to the USB EXTREME on the PS2! If anyone gots new let me know!
There is now doubt it can do it I know it can be done. But it might take some time..... But to be honest if the sooner they can come out with this cool program damn would that be great. I would buy the software ASAP. You know if I knew programming I would be working on it right now. Hope that the Developers are developing that sort of program right now and make it as simple as USB EXTREME!
Its possible. Pics using ARM Jacket. There could be a workaround that way. F* I hate waiting for this stuff to come out.
As of now, I don't believe the PSP can work as a USB host device, so no luck on using something like a USB memory key. I really wish it would, as the MS Pro Duos are just too expensive and don't come in big enough sizes. Sig removed. Read the forum rules ... No advertising
Don't you just love it when the purposly hold off on releasing bigger storage forcing you to contemplate purchasing multiple small ones. Man I can't wait for the mod teams to bypass this restriction. 3-4 rolls for a 2GB is ridiculous! I can purchase 3 laptop/USB drives at 60GB a pop with enclosures for that kinda money!!
I love my 1 GB Sony Duo stick, but they cost way too much. It's a shame Sony's flash cards don't hold as much as some of the other memory cards out there. I would love to have a collection of movies and MP3's available on my PSP. My 1 GB lets me have one good quality movie and half a dozen songs.
My point exactly. Sony similar to one of there competitors ie M$oft. Forcing you to use their proprietary products. It sure is taking a while for a UMD burner to be released. Sony cannot hold exclusivity to that. I can't wait when the PSP is reversed engineered and we can get our hands on recordable media. Or at least a mod to allow for a big laptop harddrive. How long did it take for the PS2 mod?
I actually think a good idea would be a portable computer, like one of those OQOs, as the OQO will provide the USB host part. Combine that with a high density microdrive or ultra-portable hard drive... of course, for all that money one might as well buy a portable video player and an iPod.
Thats the thing. Many ppl already own ipods or the like. There just has to be a way to use it with the PSP. Simply put, a harddrive that has its own battery power and is massive. And a connector to allow compatibilty and full use of the storage. Think about it they made a converter for MS to be used in a CF port. It should be possible to bridge USB to MS. Or cut through all the shiz and mod the sucker to run through a modified USB cable. Sony probably shitting bricks cuz they pushed a new firm after several emu's were released. Security my ass!
It is a just a game and we are merely players (pawns more like it). This is not a short-sighted move by Sony, just part of their perfect plan to torture the masses and earn money doing it. Why sell something that does what we want out of the gate. Make us buy this piece, then that piece, then upgrade, then upgrade again, and so on. They would destroy capitalism if they made a product that met our dreams! Capitalism made this country what it is today. Our dreams might destroy capitalism and weaken our country. Shame on us for dreaming! Now go out and buy twenty 1 GB memory sticks and save this country!! Sorry! lol
No, that is what breeds innovation. It started with someone who wanted to play imports,to their own backups,to an operating system on a console, and then loading their games off a hardrive. Sony is pushing more ppl towards that end. And a few of them will create the next innovation. Sony is trying to force the one outcome by making you purchase an overpriced retro grade piece of media. 2GB is chump change when you already use 30+ on graphics alone. And at 300-400 bucks it's ridiculous! Talk about milking it!
You can attach some mp3 players to the PSP for dragging and dropping. If the mp3 supports OTG(On the Go) or USB Hosting. The Cowan iAudio X5 comes in 20GB and 30GB sizes so that's a lot of movies! The only bad side is you cannot stream from these, you have to have a MS inserted and drag and drop the files(movies, mp3's, games, etc.) to the MS when you want to use it. It's kind of a pain, but you won't need an external powersource as you would with a HDD(Plus, the same would apply, no streaming.) DSLTech_Dude
Sounds interesting - but that's a lot of greenbacks if you don't already own one ($250-$350). Thanks for the update! Is it easy to drag and drop with an MP3 player?
Some mp3 player's are VERY easy, especially if they have a GUI. You can literally highlight files and folders move them to the PSP just like another folder. Yeah, it's kind of expensive... but it's better than buying 20 1GB MS! DSLTech_Dude
What a joke: PSP +IPOD: Just for your information: Ipod uses some crazy protection lay-out scheme so it's impossible to ever transfer files from an ipod to a PSP (the bastards) For now you have 3 options: 1)use your expensive usb-host supporting MP3 player as host(see dapreview.net for description) 2)use a (cheaper) external HD supporting usb-host (not a lot available yet) 3)use this: http://www.macally.com/spec/usb/input_device/syncbox2.html haven't tested it myself but the discription looks like it would work ... fear however it will be usb1.0speeds ---> perhaps they can make a Wireless USB module that can connect to psp through it's ad-hoc connection, WUSB (cool name ey) suppusedly has same transfer speeds as USB2.0 so you could easily stream video The moment this happens you can just carry a HD with audio in one pocket of your coat and another HD with video in other pocket and PSP is Ultimate Multimedia Player. Ow yeah just to sweet some thinks even more cooler (SF'er also technology doesn't implement as fast as I'd like it there 're HD which have native support for MPEG I-II-IV so you could stream the video from the HD to the screen of the PSP (processor of special HD does al the work) and watch DVD's Sounds cool not
