Hi, I have a pc with 1GB ddr-400 of Ram, I have put in another 1 GB ddr-400 stick bringing it up to 2 GB . however the PC doesn't appear to like it as it seems to be freezing. I had this problem to a lesser extent before but before I tackle that problem I just want to make sure that there should be no reason why extra Ram would cause this. My processor is a AMD Anthlon 64 3200+ Any help will be much appreciated. cheers
Adding more RAM to an already unstable system will only make the problem worse. You need to find the cause of the crashes you had before the upgrade.
try the new ram by it self in different ram slots to see if crashes still occur. are any of the silver topped cans(capacitors) on the motherboard domed or leaking? check board site for possible bios update in relation to those crashes.
thank you for your help. I did a scan with malwarebytes and it found some problems, Once deleted it was ok running a bit slow but thats all the junk i have on the PC. I did have malware bytes protecting the Pc but when it updated it stopped the protection and when i tried to input my serial it wouldn't work on the update so thats how malware got on but a regular scan keeps it clean. no more freezing. cheers
