I recently had to reformat my hard drive and so had to redownload codecs for everything. My prior installation played video just fine. I thought I had the K-Lite Codec pack then, so I downloaded that to try again. I think the mistake I made now was that I installed too many codecs or chose the wrong options. Anyway, whenever I try to play a video, my CPU load goes to 100% and everything basically stops. It almost seems like a video card problem as the screen with go black for a moment then back to normal (like a ridiculously slow refresh rate). Once I end the media player, things go back to normal after a bit (except that my min, max, and X buttons on each window are blacked out).

I tried uninstalling all the codecs I installed and even did the manual uninstall from the sticky here. I followed the codec instructions from the other sticky on this forum, but I still have the same problem. The problem does not seem to be related to the player as I have tried Media Player Classic, Windows MP, VLC, and Quicktime player and all had the same problem. Does anyone know what the hell is going on here?

Looks like I was right about the video card problem. I uninstalled my video card drivers and reinstalled them. The problem is now fixed, so just a heads up to anyone else who might have this problem too.
