extremely bad sound quality HELP

    hey i have an avi file and when i put it on a dvd the sound turned extremely bad but if i played the avi file on the computer it sounded great wat should i do to make the sound a lot better plz help

    how did you convert it ?

    but the source maybe already be at the threshold of being crap, so converting it would result in crapier. :)
