I've been trying to back up my West Wing DVDs and keep coming up with this error. I use DVD Fab Decrypter, VOB Blanker, DVD Shrink and run into problems when I try to burn with Nero. The Nero version I'm using is 6.6.0.16

Is this an Optorite DVD burner you're using? If so, you apparently have the latest firmware available.

Most likely the problem is the media you're using. Nero didn't ID it which is a bad sign. Good media includes Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Made in Japan labeled Fuji and Sony disks.

What brand of media are you using? If you have DVD Decrypter, put it in ISO Write mode and insert a blank disk. In the righthand column down towards the bottom is a line header. Disk ID:. What does DVDD ID your media as, i.e., what is the media code listed?

It seems you have some other programs open as your trying to burn. Be sure to close all user programs except for the ones used for burning.

You're burning at 4X which is a proper speed.

There is a little newer version of Nero 6 available that is stable, version 6.6.0.18. It can be downloaded at this site:

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539

Bottom line. If you are using some offbrand media, get one of those I listed above and try that as well as updating to Nero 6.6.0.18.

Hopefully this will solve your problem. If not please post back and we'll go from there.

Thanks so much Laddyboy for your quick response. Yes, it is an Optorite drive and my media is Ritek R04-01 which has worked better in this burner than anything else I've used. I tried some Verbs but it didn't like them at all. Got more coasters with them than with the Riteks. Apparently this drive is allergic to the good stuff since the Verbs were just fine in a Lite On I have in an older computer that I don't use any more.
I did update the Nero and shut down most everything else that was running and that did the trick. Thanks again.

You're welcome. Glad you're up and burning again.
