Hello The other day I had a failed burn using Nero 6 Ultra Burning ROM which has never happened before. I also tried to burn using DVD Flick, after conversion of the files. The files converted OK to the format that DVD Flick uses but at the start of the burn I got the following error from DVD Flick: Retry Failed - Reason: Invalid address for write. Retrying Retry Failed - Reason: Invalid address for write. RetryingThis happened for 20 times. A pop up box also appeared saying: I/O Error Device: Philips etc Scsi Status: 0x02 Interpretation: Check condition Interpretation: Write Error I am using Verbatim DVD-R discs so I don't think that it is a disc problem I updated the Philips firmware a few weeks ago. Could it be this that is causing the problem or does it look like the drive has had it? Many thanks aw56001
Was that because of a burning problem? DVD Flick uses Imgburn (the best burning software) and since you are also using good disks, I would try to flash with the previous firmware else try the drive in another machine...
Yes, because I did a burn with Nero Burning ROM and it failed so I thought I would update the firmware. I then tried a NERO burn and a DVD Flick and both failed. How do I roll back the firmware please? I have googled but it doesn't seem to be answered. Many thanks aw56001
You install it like the update - perhaps from the same site that you obtained the new firmware. The suggestion for reinstalling the original was in case the new firmware was the cause of the problem - but since the problem preceded the update, that's unlikely.
If it burns a CD ok (using a different laser) it means the connections to the drive are ok. If it fails on CD and DVD it might be worth pulling the cover off and verifying the data cable is tight. And while the cover was off I would install it in another PC because parting with money tears my heart out.
Mmm, very strange. I have just used Nero Burning ROM to burn a few songs onto a CD with no problems whatsoever. Any further advice please? Thanks aw56001
