I have usually used DVD Shrink to rip compress and burn (using Nero) DVDs. Now this isn't working as well anymore, discs seem to fail at random times during the burning process (at 8x), unless I re-instal the driver for my burner (which helps for a few burns). At first I was convinced that it was my LG DVD Super-Multi, but last night I used DVD Fab Express and it worked flawlessly. What do you recomend I do? Should I try different methods, and see which works? I eventually tryed DVDFab again, and it did the same thing as DVD Shrink (with Nero) did. I previously used DVDFab after I had reinstalled the drive (not physically) and driver, that seems to be the reason why it didn't fail.
After searching, I've found alot of people have a similar problem. I'll just go ahead and give my Media now. It's Memorex 4.7GB DVD-R. Now that I think of it, I was using BenQ DVD-Rs before, and almost everyone worked. Do DVD's go bad? Do Burners go bad? Ive heard of my type of Drive (LG) having lots of problems. thanks
well i would definately change media. shrink will not do newer encryptions, dvd fab decrypter will. u can still use shrink to compress. so if fab worked then i would use it.
Stop torturing your burner with Memorex, and buy some better media and if you are going to use these disks slow it down to 4x. Check and make sure your burners firmware is up to date.
I'm not on my computer right now but i will be tommarrow. I do remember one thing from the log though, CPU or memory at 70% or something. Other than that i can't figure it out. INCD is disabled, DMA is enabled, burning at 4x, minimal background programs, Fuji discs. I have used both Nero and DVDFab, both result in a random failure. thansk
Did you try the plus format? Are those fujis made in taiwan or japan? That LG burner should have the bitsetting capability to booktype. Do you have any MID codes on those benq/memosux/and fuji discs? Also reduce that burn speed.Try 4x,only takes a few minutes longer and see if it will error out. The lower quality manufacturers media, you also want to reduce your backup target in dvd shrink.
i haven't tryed plus, but the BenQs worked well, they were minus. Fujis made in taiwan (thats bad isn't it?) What are MID codes? I don't know how to see what bitsetting I'm using the backup target from DVD Shrink is usually around 4.35GB

Lets first start by editing out your serial number. It starts with 1A20-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. Use the small icon of a pc of paper and small pencil in right corner of your post to edit.
It's starting to make sense now, my drive only works when it is re-installed. I will try reinstalling the drive, then using good media. Thanks alot
