Recently my computer failed to post. After some shutting down and restarting the computer finally posted, but I am unable to get back to Vista. I have set up linux-windows dual boot, where the fedora bootloader comes first. I can boot into linux with no problem at all, but when I choose Vista (which should then pass control to the Vista bootloader using chainloader) the computer simply restarts. It is as if the Vista bootloader isnt there, but it is weird coz it doesnt have the "bootloader not found, press [somekeys] to restart" message. Also, previously in Fedora, my Vista drive is mounted as "OS_Install", which is its drive label. But now it is given a generic "47.2 GB Media" name. Does this mean anything? So, what should I do?
I would do a chkdsk x: /f (x= drive letter of partition where vista is installed). If Vista is corrupted it won't boot. The chkdsk is the first thing I always do when windows won't boot, many times it fixes the problem.
