    hi all
when i switch ds on i get 2 white screens that have faint black lines moving vertically through them sort of like a faint barcode slowly turning into darker black lines.
it eventually works after switching on and off lots of times.
ive checked ribbon cable and it seems ok.
    any ideas anyone?
    cheers

if the console charges and powers on i don't think it a power issue, maybe one of the screens is damaged. has it been dropped or bumped in anyway? how old is device and is it well used? out of curiosity take battery out and re put in, playing around with things like this sometimes gives you different results and you notice things you didn't before.

    thanks for the reply mickoz
the ds is 4 years old, it broke its hinge 9 months ago and i fitted a complete new case.
all has been ok since then until this problem started a couple of weeks ago.
i took battery out when i checked ribbon cable.
    cheers dave

so the screens are lighting up proving they are getting power, but the data is not getting through proving no picture. 1 or both screens are at fault. check here there about $7 each from china if these are not the fault you can sell them on ebay to get a profit also does the or did the touch screen work ok?
tops screen will need the speakers soldered to ribbon i also solder the earthing strip to the screen but you can successfully hook two screens up and get picture on both without sound i have had a black screen on a few ds lites with like a fine grid in blue its either new screen or ribbon cable not far enough in slot. in your case it worked for a long time so i don't thing its the connection unless its been dropped, i think screens have gone.
