I'm kind of new to this, any advise is appreciated

While searching online, I came across this FAVC which is free and is suppose to offer better quality with its HC encoder. So I tried to use it. Installed everything required including Avisynth 2.5

so, while it was working on my mkv file, at one stage, it came out an error that the temp audio file (presumably one that is extracted from the mkv) was not found. it seems to be looking for something which is .avs file.

A check at the Working Folder shows that there is an audio file 3++MB, but it is av3. Not avs format that the DOS promt message says it was looking for. Anyway the program refuse to proceed from there.

Anyone knows any solution or work around to this problem? Thank you very much.

I don't know why it happened, but the audio was AC3 not av3?
AC3 is the audio format on a DVD.
The .avs file is a text file that is used with Avisynth.

I would try again with a small AVI file to see if it works ok.
If it doesn't, try removing and reinstalling FAVC.
If the AVI is ok, then it's something about the MKV that FAVC objects to - but you have to make sure the program is capable of functioning before jumping off that cliff..
