I see that many of our members, newbie to addict willfully violate forum 's rule #14:

If you see a post that violates any of these rules, please report it to our moderators using the "Report an offensive post" link. Do not play the role of a moderator if you are not one. There is absolutely no need to nitpick on the posts of new users. Let the moderators do their work.

We have a spam threads here, and mods will try to hid them asap, but many times we see our members replying with stypid pics or messages and it's against the rules and im not going to allow it, and i think there's also other mods who dont like that spammer feeding..

I'll give temp bans for every users, no matter what's the title who willfully violate forum rule #14 on spam threads

..it's ok for one member to post "reported" (then other members can see that there's no need to re-report it, less reports for us ;-) but if i see anything other messages which arent needed, i'll give a 2 days off..

i wish it was possible to launch a weapon at SPAMMERS through my internet connection. The removal of ALL spammers & other viagra/cialis-peddling filth from the Internet would make it a great place once again.

I would rather some1 @AD report bad posts to the mods. As a former mod at another site, it feels good to ban spammers :) One of the few benefits of the job.

The internet was made for pr0n. Remember that

    :'(

Shouldn't this be titled feeding the wolves? ;)

This saddens me, I do use the report button (sometimes too happily as the mods well know) but I had fun giving the spammer crap for their actions.

This thread came as a personally unwelcome surprise as I liked doing it and it didn't seem to bug the majority of the mods, heck a few (whom shall remain nameless) would change spam threads to let us wolves know we could "feed".

Most of the time I don't think the spammers even read what was posted but some did and even replied to the comments before they got the smack down.

It was fun while it lasted though *sob* *sniffle*

pop, if the title has been edited to include wolves & moved to safety valve than we mods have done our duty. just remember, no swearing or certain name calling as we do have kids on site.

thanks blibetnc, and about the spamm, it's great to see how they block the spammers, take a look at this one:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/402108#3006064

i don't know if it takes you directly to it, but if not go to the second page, that was just awesome, i'd like to have great ideas like that, and would definitely wouldn't like to be banned like that haha!

That one's good, is best when they stick up something personal such as there ip, email, address etc. I'm sure plenty of people would love to forward these details onto a few companies.

Perhapse we could poison their lists somehow; like a long thread filled with about a million randomly generated fake email addresses with fake names and phone numbers...any maybe even a virus designed to attack the webbots used by these penis-cream sellers! I know it is not a crime to distribute viruses; that company that makes AV2009 is still around. The only problem would be making a virus that would not hurt the google/yahoo/etc webbots...

    The things already exist... http://www.sourcecodeonline.com/details/s4u_biz_anti-spam_notice.html

but because we know about the methods used to confuse, what our automated bots do is send mail to every address they harvest then wait for the undelivered notices returning. We use the bots to do the grunt of the work for us... All they return to us are the email addresses which seem to be valid. If I feel like being really cute I put a "read receipt" flag on the mail script which redirects the notice of the mail being opened/looked at/deleted by user to a different hijacked mail server (usually about 100 of them) so the proper mail gatherer.. which is usually a hijacked windows webserver .. only returns real and active email addresses back to the automated bot mailing list irc channel.

The spambot is a very clever and multi skinned creature. Each is as individual as it's coder. I use a basically similar script to send email or post on targeted sites from all those totally insecure windoze machines... make a file sound tempting.. stick it on p2p networks and watch as thousands of idiots click it.. hahahahaha .. a couple of years ago a nice Russian found a way of making a virus/installer download and run automatically and backgrounded on the limewire p2p system .. all that needs to happen is it's name be displayed on your screen or in the minimised application.. good idea having a p2p application set to start and connect on boot isn't it knowing that little gem of information.
One infected machine then shouts it's little message to all the names in it's address book.. or browser history lists.. or any other accessible data list I care to exploit.
