I just updated FFDShow to rev905 (20061222), and still Media Player Classic (and other media players) crashes on certain subtitles. I.e. The.Devil.Wears.Prada.DVDRip.XviD-DoNE - if I enable subtitles in FFDShow, the player crashes whenever someone says something and subs are displayed. The error happens in libmplayer.dll, and I have no clue what's the reason for it. Yes, I can use VobSub instead, but then I get another problem. If I enable "noise" in FFDShow (as I often do because most 1CD-movies look better with a little added noise in them) VobSub doesn't display the subtitles. Any clue why? Thanks!
ffdshow doesn't use libmplayer for subtitles, so I would start by disabling whatever pp you are using that does use it. If that works, then you could try changing the filter order and re-enabling it.
Um... how do I disable any "PP"? And what is a "PP"? And what filter order, in what program? And how do I change that? Thanks!
So... after some experimenting, I found out that it actually works - but ONLY if "Noise" is disabled when I open the video files. Then I can switch on and off "Noise" without any problems. But if it's enabled when I start up the video, the player crashes the second a subtitle appears. Strange! Any tips on why? And can someone forward this to FFDShow's author?
That makes sense since noise is an mplayer filter (TimgFilterNoiseMplayer). Did you try switching the filter order? Put noise after subtitles or vice versa (depending on how it is now).
How do I change the filter order in FFDShow? I tried adding and removing them, but they are inserted in the same order. Clicking and dragging doesn't work either... Thanks!
