file name to long

    Hi all
    As I am new probably one of you oldest I have a box with evo x which I bought for my disabled son now I have put games to the hard drive ok but I have a problem that I have not come across before which is a error message saying the file name is to long how do I overcome this please help

    if it's a game that has a file that is too long in the name...just try another application to copy the files over. I think the newer dvd2xbox versions have fixed the name length issue. If it's a video file or something to that effect,just rename it to a shorter name and ftp it over.

    I think that may be a bit over my head but is there another application within the Xbox (evo x) or do I need to get a updated version of evo x

    What are you trying to transfer to the xbox?

    its a game called Toca Race Driver 2 I got from number 1 son he’s 25 and told me about these chipped Xboxes so putting lees games onto it I found the dvd2xbox as you described in the last thread and it downloaded but will not play when launched from play game from hard drive but a friend as downloaded version 2.6 for me and he’s putting it on for me hopefully tomorrow (sat)
    Will this be ok sorry for being so numb?

    I never put toca on my hard drive myself...I put it right to disk. I'll try it right now to see if it goes.

    DVD2XBOX 6.7 backed it up fine...maybe try that if you haven't already.

    It’s actually downloaded via dvdsxbox on the hard drive but wont play via avalanche or play from hdd

    its 1:30 am here whats your time clock seems to be 5hrs behind

    Sorry about this
    I downloaded it to games file on hard drive it went through the stages 1% 2% and so on then once finished went to main dashboard play game from hard drive selected race driver 2 did nothing for ages then went to avalanche same again it shows that its there select still nothing am I doing something wrong do I need to copy all the files to somewhere that were downloaded via dvd2xbox

    will have to go now need sleep will pick up again later

    I'd say try patching the game with craxtion or quix.....but if you used dvd2xbox it patches it when you copy the game....so I'm not too sure.

    After last thread I was frustrated and decided to be daring and did a bit of exploring in the setting don’t know were but found that the f drive was not enabled and I knew that was were the games were so I enabled it , installed again to f drive hay it worked don’t ask me how I did it but I did I think I will be able to do it again
    So Punqewe I want to thank you for all your help and patience hay I’ll soon be an expert ha ha
