Hi im not sure if this is the place to post this question but here goes.
i downloaded a tv programme series which was listed at about 3.4gb which was correct. i then needed to convert the file as it came as a avi to dvd using convertxtodvd obviously the size will now rise after adding all 9 episodes to be converted it came up as 12gb and therefore wont fit on my 4.7gb disc.
i downloaded dvd shrink but that wont work as it says the file cannot be added so i need another solution i need these to all fit onto 1 disc. i am using tuffdisc dvd-r 16x after doing many burns and conversions not one hs ever failed me can someone please help me if more info is required then please ask what you need to know thanks Jon

The answer is quite simple the most a dvd can handle is about 6 hrs u need a dvd dl or to split the files between two dvd's. When you download avi's they are smaller and can all fit as a data disc onto a dvd but when you convert it naturally its much bigger. No amount of shrinking is gonna work and even if it did you would likely have issues with a dvd player in playback. I have issues with playing movies that run over two hours compressed at to high a ratio playing on my phillips dvd player and its not a cheap one I paid over $100 bucks but mine does have divx playback so I just create a data disc and pile all my episodes of tv shows onto it and play in them in divx format.

what i was thinking of doing is making the avi's into an iso then shrinking them with dvd shrink but i cannot find a suitable file to convert avi to iso any solutions

Avi's do not comply with the ISO to my knowledge but I guess you could try CDburnerXP pro its free won't cost you nothing but I have never heard of what you want to do only ISO I have ever seen are programs, dvd file formats etc never just data because that is what an avi is a data file.

unfortuantly that didnt work thanks anyway though.
i assume you know prison break
well i bought the dvds before and wanted to use dvd decrypter to put onto my pc where it said each episode was 700mb i wanted to put 4 episodes onto a 4.7gb disc but it was to big to fit so i used dvd shrink which shrinked it down to 4.35gb and lost no quality. now as dvd shrink only allows isos or someother format it wont accept avi so i wanted to convert avi to iso so dvd shrink could see it then dhrink it and allow to fit on my dvd but still i cannot find a convertion program if you dont know a program do you know a shrinking program that will acceopt avi files thanks

Vso Convert X to dvd converts avi's to dvd format the resulting file can be opened with dvd shrink and turned into an Iso you can also use dvd flick which is free but I have read people having issues with it to learn more proceed to the wealth of guides here on Afterdawn and check out these video tutorials on Youtube for convert x http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=vso+convertxtodvd&search_type=&aq=0&oq=vso+con

    for dvd flick http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dvd+flick&search_type=&aq=f

and btw you have me a bit confused do you have the original dvd's in dvd format or do you have them as divx/xvid avi's like from a torrent because the info I am giving you is based on you having the latter divx/xvid avi's

wtf??.. you have made a dvd image with convertx .. burn with imgburn to a dvd.. as an image not as data and it will work.. but you have shrunk it a bit far really.. I would have set shrink for 4.37 gigs

You are doing something wrong. You are trying to make a DVD with a runtime of about 8 hours. There is no way that you can convert 8 hours of CX2D's output to an ISO that DVD Shrink can get down to 2689mb. Impossible. And even if you could any output from DVD Shrink is already DVD compliant and only needs to be burned to disc as was noted.

Either try with a DL disc or use at least 2 SL discs for the project.
